Plasma displays have a high contrast ratio and can be very effective at providing some interactivity to the electronic signage project without requiring a computer to drive the display. A custom DVD-ROM would have to be created and mastered to provide the interactivity via animated menus, and the lower resolution of DVD (640x480 to 768x576) would allow less expensive low-rez plasma (WVGA) or LCD/DLP projectors (SVGA) to be used.

We can create a hardware solution for digital signage installations wishing to utilize DVD-ROM players to disseminate their branding and product marketing content. The challenge here is having a durable trackball controller built into the signage that allows intuitive menu navigation.
